Celebrating 20 Years of Majesty: The Coronation Anniversary of the Alake of Egbaland
The year 2025 marks a monumental milestone for the Egba people and the traditional institution of Nigeria. EBGA Museum is proud to join the global community in celebrating the 20th Coronation Anniversary of HRM Oba (Dr.) Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, CFR, Okukenu IV.
On November 17, 2025, we honor two decades of peace, cultural preservation, and visionary leadership under the reign of the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland.
A Legacy of Grace and Leadership
Since ascending the throne of his forefathers in 2005, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo has been a symbol of unity and progress. As the Okukenu IV, his reign has bridged the gap between ancient traditions and modern development, ensuring that the heritage of the Egba people remains vibrant in a rapidly changing world.
His Majesty’s impact extends far beyond the walls of the Ake Palace. A distinguished retired Brigadier General and a Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR), the Alake has utilized his wealth of experience to advocate for educational advancement, economic growth, and communal harmony within Abeokuta and beyond.
EBGA Museum: Preserving the Egba Heritage
At EBGA Museum, our mission is deeply intertwined with the history that His Majesty represents. The 20th Coronation Anniversary is not just a celebration of a monarch, but a celebration of the Egba identity.
Throughout these 20 years, the Alake has been a staunch supporter of cultural institutions, ensuring that the stories of our ancestors—our victories, our art, and our social fabric—are documented for future generations.
